Working Principle of JDB-1 Bushes

JDB-1 Bushes are self-lubricating bushes made from high tensile manganese bronze with embedded solid graphite lubricant plugs. These bushes are specially designed for high-load and low-to-moderate speed applications where regular lubrication is difficult or impossible.

How JDB-1 Bushes Work

When the shaft starts rotating or sliding inside the bush, slight friction occurs between the shaft surface and the bronze bush material. This generates a small amount of heat. The graphite plugs embedded in the bronze surface begin to release microscopic graphite particles due to friction and heat. The graphite slightly expands and comes into contact with the moving shaft.

The moving shaft spreads the graphite over the contact surface, creating a thin self-lubricating film between the shaft and the bush. This film prevents direct metal-to-metal contact. The graphite film reduces friction, minimizes wear, lowers operating temperature, and ensures smooth movement even without external oil or grease lubrication. As operation continues, fresh graphite is continuously supplied from the embedded plugs, maintaining lubrication throughout the service life of the bush.

Types of JDB-1 Bushes:

JDB-1 Bushes are solid lubricant embedded bushes designed for maintenance-free and self-lubricating operation under heavy loads and low-speed conditions. They are available in different types and configurations to suit various industrial applications.

• Straight Cylindrical JDB-1 Bushes - These are the most commonly used bushes with a simple cylindrical shape. They are suitable for rotary, oscillating, and sliding movements in machinery.

• Flanged JDB-1 Bushes - Flanged bushes include an extended flange at one end, which helps in axial positioning and prevents sideways movement. They have easy installation , better axial load support reduced alignment issues.

• Thrust Washer Type JDB-1 Bushes - These bushes are designed in washer form to support axial loads and reduce friction between flat moving surfaces.

• Sliding Plates / Wear Plates - JDB-1 wear plates are flat self-lubricating plates used where linear sliding motion occurs instead of rotational movement. They have high wear resistance excellent load carrying capacity, and maintenance-free operation.

• Graphite Plugged JDB-1 Bushes - These bushes contain embedded graphite solid lubricant plugs that provide continuous lubrication during operation. They performs well in dusty or dry environments and are suitable for high-temperature applications.
